Heys welcome Chadderton to Adie Moran Park on Tuesday night in the NW Counties League Premier Division (7.45pm).
Last season saw both sides challenging for the play-offs but they enter this game in differing circumstances. Chadderton have started the season strongly and sit in second place in the table with 26 points from 13 games, having lost just once. It’s all the more impressive given that they are having to play all their games “on the road” with their Falcon Fire Stadium undergoing major pitch and construction works.
Having drawn their last two League games with Abbey Hey (3-3) and Squires Gate (2-2) they come into this match on the back of a crushing 8-4 win over Retford in the FA Vase on Friday night. Their squad tonight includes former Heys favourite Jacob Ngoy, who will doubtless receive a warm welcome back to Adie Moran Park, if not for the 90 minutes of the game!
Heys have lost their last six matches, the latest a 2-1 loss at Ramsbottom on Saturday. They come into the game in 21st place in the table with only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone. They have come close to points in three of their last four games but come undone with late goals whilst paying the price for missed chances. They have never lost to Chadderton, there cannot have been a more important time to ensure that record is maintained.
