Heys host Litherland Remyca at Adie Moran Park on Saturday (3pm) looking for three more points in their battle to avoid relegation from the NW Counties Premier Division.
A month ago, Heys cause looked a lost one as they found themselves thirteen points off safety. However, three wins in the last six matches have seen Ryan Hutchinson’s side move to within four points of third bottom Squires Gate to give themselves hope of avoiding the drop.
There is still much to do. Colne, who sit second bottom are three points above them and have two games in hand. Above Squires Gate, Heys have an eleven-point gap to South Liverpool and Pilkington. However, Heys have made ground on all those sides above them and will look to make further progress tomorrow as they seek a fourth successive home win.
Litherland find themselves with a thirteen-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone but will be looking to get points on the board to ensure they do not get dragged into any late battle to stay up.
They come into the game on the back of successive 2-1 defeats at home to Irlam and away at Glossop North End, but those losses follow an impressive 4-1 win over FC St. Helens whilst last month they swept Bury aside 3-1.
With 23 goal top scorer James Hammill upfront and who scored the decisive goal in their 2-1 win over Heys in September, Remyca pose a real threat to Heys hopes of making further in roads on the teams above them.
