Heys embark on the second half of their NW Counties League Premier Division programme tomorrow when they welcome Cheadle Town to Adie Moran Park (3pm).
The sides started their season against each other back in July when Cheadle ran out 2-1 winners at Park Road. Since that day, Cheadle have been steady but struggled for consistency in their results and go into this game in 17th place in the table with 25 points from 20 games played. Recent results perhaps sum up their season, a thumping 4-0 home win over FC Isle of Man was followed by defeats at Ramsbottom and Lower Breck. However, last weekend they romped to a 5-0 home win over Squires Gate which will ensure they go into the game in good spirits. Former Heys striker Connor Martin has been amongst the goals recently and is joint top scorer with Darren McKnight.
Since that opening day, its s fair to say Heys season has not gone as they would have hoped and they go into the game propping up the table, after last week’s defeat at Pilkington, with just nine points to show for their efforts in their first twenty-three games. With no League win since August an upturn in results is needed soon if they are to avoid relegation. Recently appointed Manager Ryan Hutchinson and his Coaching team have over seen a radical overhaul of the squad in recent weeks, and they will be looking for their side to turn encouraging performances into results tomorrow and kick start a better second half of the campaign.
