Heys make the short trip up the M60 on Saturday to face League leaders Ramsbottom United. (3pm).
The Rams finished 18th last season but strengthened during the Summer and have reaped their rewards with a flying start to the season. The collected nineteen points from their opening eight games and whilst the last six games have yielded eight points that included a 1-1 draw with unbeaten Bury in their last outing on Tuesday night.
They lead the table by one point from Chadderton and have scored an impressive 36 goals in their fourteen League matches with Oumar Camara and Luke Sephton to the fore with six goals apiece.
Heys come into the match having lost their last five matches and without a goal in their last three. Their last two away trips have seen 1-0 losses with a 95th minute winner by Burscough and a penalty conceded at Stockport Town leaving them pointless despite good performances. It leaves Heys 21st in the table with seven points from thirteen games, just one point above the relegation zone. They need a win and will hope this “Bury” derby that pits the two sides from the opposite ends of the borough against each other may provide a turning point.
