Heys welcome Barnoldswick Town to Adie Moran Park in the NW Counties Premier Division on Saturday for their third home game in a week.
Last Saturday, saw Ryan Hutchinson oversee his first game in the sobering defeat to Padiham, which sparked an influx of players ahead of Tuesday’s draw against West Didsbury & Chorlton. The performance in that game, against arguably the best side Heys have faced this season, gave reason for optimism going forward and it’s fair to say the mood approaching tomorrow’s fixture is far more upbeat than of late.
Not that there is any room for complacency. Ryan and his team have made it clear that this is period of transition and results may not appear straight away. This is a tough Division and whilst Barnoldswick may not be amongst the front runners, sitting in 14th place, they did beat West Didsbury 1-0 a fortnight ago. Barlick have gone about their business in steady fashion throughout the season, steadily accumulating points, whilst boasting the fifth best defensive record in the division with only 26 goals conceded in their seventeen games. They may point to having scored only 25 goals as a reason for not being higher in the table, but they do possess firepower in their ranks with the ever-reliable Gareth Hill and midfielder Will Proctor having ten goals each.
Heys for their part have found it a struggle all season and go into the game, five points adrift of the safety zone. They will be looking for the injection of the fresh faces in their ranks and to build on the optimism of midweek to help them start to climb the table.
