Heys return to Adie Moran Park tomorrow to welcome FC St. Helens in the NW Counties Premier Division (3pm).
It will be a first ever visit to Prestwich, for FC, who have made a fine start to their life in the Premier Division following their Championship winning promotion last season, in what was their first season in the Counties.
FC arrive sitting sixth in the table with 27 points from their first thirteen games. They have lost only twice in those 13 games and on a points per game ratio, only unbeaten Bury have a better record. Their losses came back-to-back at Stockport Town (2-1) and at home to West Didsbury & Chorlton (1-0). However, they have responded with successive home wins over AFC Liverpool (3-2) and Litherland Remyca (2-1) bringing them into today’s match.
Heys have found things much tougher this season and enter the match sitting in the relegation zone with eight points from their eighteen games.
However, they approach the game in good spirits following a thrilling 2-2 draw at Charnock Richard on Tuesday that ended their losing run. They were most unfortunate to lose at home to Lower Breck last Saturday and having come through at home to Irlam in the Macron Cup in the previous outing, there are encouraging signs. However, it is now time for those signs to be converted into points and they will need another good performance to prevail tomorrow.
Although it’s still early October, this will be the second meeting of the season between the sides with FC having prevailed 4-2 when they met back in August at the SMS PRO SOCCER
