Friday Night Football comes to Adie Moran Park this week as Heys take on Glossop North End (7.45pm).
It’s been a tough start to the season for both clubs and they go into the match separated by only one place in the table and one point. Glossop sit in 19th place with eight points from eleven games with Heys in 20th with seven points from eleven played.
Heys come into the game on the back of three successive defeats, the latest a last kick of the game 1-0 loss at Burscough on Tuesday night. However, there were encouraging signs in the performance and Russ Saunders and Matty Russell will be looking for their side to build on this and collect three valuable points.
Glossop also enter the match on the back of a defeat, albeit a battling 4-2 loss to unbeaten Bury on Tuesday night. Prior to that the Hillmen had put together a three-match unbeaten run with a 1-0 win at Burscough followed by a goalless home draw with Cheadle Town and a 1-1 draw at second placed Ramsbottom. They will also be looking to build on the positives of their recent form.
Although we are only in September, the sheer number of games played means the table is beginning to shape and by the end of the month we should have a fair idea of where everyone is at. In that context, Friday’s game already looks a big one as defeat for either side will see them in the bottom five and at risk of a gap opening up on the sides above them.
