For the second time in five days,Heys face Irlam tomorrow, but this time in the NW Counties Premier Division at Adie Moran Park.
On Tuesday night, two goals by Rio Wilson-Heyes, together with a strike from Matt Davies, gave Heys a 3-1 win at Irlam in the Macron Cup. This time Lee O'Brien and James Hampson will be looking for their side to maintain their promotion push with another three points. After their hard-earned victory last weekend at fellow challengers Wythenshawe, Heys promotion hopes received a further boost in midweek when League Leaders Wythenshawe Town dropped points at Barnoldswick. It means they go into the game in fourth place in the table, nine points off the Premier Division summit, but with five games in hand, in an increasingly tight promotion battle.
Irlam come into the game in 19th place in the table with 30 points from 21 games. Their position in the table is something of a false one however, as they have up to six games in hand on all the teams above them, having suffered several postponements and having a good run in the FA Vase.
With a hectic fixture list ahead Irlam will be anxious to get points on board but will have to do so without prolific striker Declan Daniels, who has scored 33 goals for them this season, after he moved to Bury a couple of weeks ago. Nonetheless, they still have plenty of talent in their squad including ex-Heys players Jacob Holt, Joe Rothwell and Kaiden Barlow. The latter was one of several new recruits following the departure of Daniels. On Boxing Day, Irlam secured a 2-1 home win over West Didsbury and Chorlton before going down to a 3-0 loss at Bury last weekend.
The teams will enter the game with different squads from Tuesday as both had multiple payers unavailable due to Cup eligibilty rules.
