MATCH POSTPONED WATERLOGGED PITCH

Heys head to Kendal Town on Saturday in a key game in the NW Counties League Premier Division.

Kendal made a flying start to the season going unbeaten in their first nine games, winning eight of them and looked set to run away with things at the top of the table. However, their form faltered as they took only fourteen points from their following thirteen matches. It means the hosts go into action just outside the play off places, in sixth, with 39 points from 22 games.

However, they have won three of their last five games although were beaten 2-0 at home by West Didsbury & Chorlton on their last outing two weeks ago. The weather has hit them hard of late too and for Kendal that game is the only one they have played since the 18th of November.

Heys by contrast started the season slowly but have since steadily climbed with only two defeats in their last sixteen games which have seen 36 points collected. They go into the game on the back of Tuesday’s Macron Cup success over League leaders Wythenshawe. In the League they sit fourth with 44 points from 23 games, just three points off the summit.

Whilst nothing will ultimately be decided by this game it provides an opportunity to strike a blow. A home win would push Kendal within two points of Heys with a game in hand whilst conversely Lee O’Brien and James Hampson could see their side open an eight points gap on the teams outside the play off places.
