Heys welcome Glossop North End to Adie Moran Park on Tuesday evening in the NW Counties League Premier Division.
After the heady excitement of Saturday’s win over Barnoldswick Town to mark the new era under Jon Lyons Chairmanship, Heys bosses James Hampson and Lee O’Brien will be looking for their players to have their feet firmly placed on the ground for what looks a tricky fixture.
Glossop, who were relegated from the NPL last season, sit 16th in the table with thirty-four points from thirty-one games. They made a nightmare start to the season, failing to win any of the first seven matches before then embarking on a run of one defeat in six which included four wins. However, their form the remained inconsistent to bring about a change in Manager as they brought in Richard Brodie, who guided Burscough to a 3-1 victory here at Adie Moran Park on the opening day of the season.
He has brought in some new faces to bolster the squad such as Lee Rick, Abdul Djalo, Bobby Bjork, Joel Ankers and Zeki Tutuncu and they have steadily climbed away from the lower reaches towards mid table. Despite their ups and down Glossop have recorded some notable results and include victories over Bury and Chadderton and two draws with Wythenshawe Town.
Heys will look to avoid the visitors putting a dent in their promotion aspirations. They have won seven and only lost once in their last nine games, part of that impressive stat that shows they have collected forty-six points from their last twenty-one games, after having collected only eight points in their first eight games.
As the season enters the final three months, the margins for error are getting narrower and Heys will have to be on the guard to avoid making one on Tuesday night.
