Heys welcome Squires Gate to Adie Moran Park looking to maintain their push for promotion from the NW Counties League Premier Division.
Heys have lost only once in their last eleven League fixtures, collecting 24 points in the process. Their breathtaking 4-3 win at Colne last Saturday saw them return to winning ways after losing their ten-match unbeaten record at Litherland Remyca a week last Wednesday. Their form has seen them climb the table and they go into today’s game in fifth place in the League table and well placed in the promotion race with 35 points from 19 games.
After being frustrated by the weather with the postponement of Tuesday’s game with Longridge Town, Lee O’Brien and James Hampson will be looking for their side to get back in the groove and pick up three points ahead of Tuesday night’s tough trip to Wythenshawe Town.
Squires Gate arrive in Prestwich, sitting second from bottom of the table with sixteen points from twenty-three games. It’s been a tough campaign for Luke Evans’ side who had to wait until their twelfth match of the season to taste their first win, with a 1-0 away success at Padiham. Indeed, Gate have taken four points of the Lancastrians this season. In waiting for that first victory Gate lost nine games but of the two draws. one was the 2-2 home draw with Heys back in August. Indeed, despite their struggles they have picked up some notable results such as a 3-1 win at Glossop, a 3-2 home win over FC Isle of Man and a draw at West Didsbury.
Recent weeks have seen an important victory over Skelmersdale in between 1-0 defeats at promotion challenging Bury and Chadderton.
