Heys head to Lancashire on Saturday with a trip to Colne in the NW Counties Premier Division (3pm).
After seeing their ten-match unbeaten run come to an end at Litherland on Wednesday night, Heys will be looking to bounce back to winning ways as they look to consolidate their place in the play off places.
Colne were relegated from the Northern Premier League Division One last season and are presently 13th in the League table with 27 points from twenty games. They have struggled for consistency whilst picking up some notable results. They have completed a League double over third placed Kendal Town and drawn twice with fourth placed Chadderton, whilst defeating sixth placed West Didsbury a fortnight ago, their last win. Since then, there have been 3-2 defeats to Longridge Town and Charnock Richard. With 38 goals scored and conceded there has been no shortage of goals in their fixtures with their striker Lucas Weaver having scored seventeen times. It’s a dangerous looking fixture for Heys, but then every game is in a highly competitive division.
It makes Heys recent unbeaten run all the more impressive and it is one that has put them in a good position in the table, sitting fifth with 32 points from 18 games. They have one game in hand on the three sides directly above them, Chadderton, Kendal and Wythenshawe whilst they trail leaders Bury by ten points with four games in hand after The Shakers lost three points for fielding an ineligible player.
The Heys Management will be instilling into their team the need to focus and maintain their overall form which has allowed them to overcome an uncertain start to the season. With home games to follow against Longridge Town next Tuesday, (7th Nov 7.45pm) and Squires Gate on Saturday 11th November, the coming couple of weeks could prove a key period in the season as we move to the mid-point in the campaign.
Colne are offering Free entry for all current and ex service personnel and will hold a Remembrance Day Parade before kick off, including the laying of a wreath. After the game, in the evening, there will be a fireworks display too.
