Heys make the trip to Longridge Town on Saturday in the NW Counties Premier Division looking to extend their unbeaten League run to nine games.
However, they will come up against a home side who themselves are in a rich vein of form. After an indifferent start to the season that saw them collect only three points from their opening eight games a resounding 6-0 win over Skelmersdale lifted spirits. A tough three game run against Barnoldswick, Bury and West Didsbury only delivered a point, but the performances confirmed their progress. Losing 2-0 at home to Barlick they then picked up a point at Gigg Lane, with only a late Benito Lowe goal denying them a famous win. It was similar story in the 4-3 loss at West Didsbury.
Since then, thirteen points have been gathered from six games. A 4-1 win at Burscough was followed by a 1-1 home draw with Cheadle Town. A 3-2 home win over AFC Liverpool followed before a 3-1 loss at home to Burscough. Back-to-back wins at Cheadle Town (3-2) and at home to Litherland (1-0) however, have lifted Longridge up to 16th in the table with 20 points from 18 games and they lie third in the form table.
The loss of Jack Anderton in midweek to AVRO will have come as a blow but Town possess plenty of quality and in Dean Ings and Paul Turner, they have proven goal scorers who have proved a thorn in Heys side in the past.
Heys midweek draw with Kendal has pushed them up to sixth in the table with 28 points from 15 games and they have two and three games in hand on the teams above them. They will be looking to continue their fine form and break into the play off places with victory but to do so will have end their hoodoo at Inglewhite Road where they have failed to pick up a point in any of their three previous visits. Indeed, of the six NW counties matches between the teams Heys have won just one, in the last meeting between the teams at Adie Moran Park in February where they won 2-1
