It’s back to League action on Tuesday night as Heys welcome Padiham to Adie Moran Park (7.45pm).
Lee O’Brien and James Hampson will be looking for their side to bounce back from Saturday’s FA Cup knockout at Workington as they embark on a run four successive League games.
With matches on the Isle of Man, away to Chadderton and home to League leaders Kendal Town to come after tomorrow night and before the FA Vase resumes, the next fortnight could prove a key period in the season for Heys.
Their League form has been patchy this season and it could be said that it’s not been the start that the Heys Management were hoping for with eight points having come from seven games. However, although Heys find themselves eight points off the play off positions, they do have two games in hand on many sides above them and with three of their next four opponents in those play-off positions it’s a good chance to make some ground up.
Padiham have made a similar start to Heys and sit one place below them on goal difference, in 17th place with eight points from eight games played. After collecting four points from their first two games, they then suffered four successive defeats, losing 3-0 at home to Kendal before an away defeat on the Isle of Man (1-2) and successive home defeats to Bury (1-2) and Glossop (0-1).
A 2-2 FA Vase win over Jarrow lifted spirits and Padiham have gone on to collect four points from their last two games, defeating Longridge 3-1 and then scoring twice in the last six minutes to come from two down, to draw with 2-2 with Pilkington on Saturday.
Padiham are a dangerous side and in addition to seven goal top scorer Joel Brownhill they have recently added prolific Jamie Ramwell, from Daisy Hill, a player who has been a thorn in Heys side in the past. Also in their squad is former Heys favourite, centre half Mark Ayres.
