Heys return to League action on Tuesday night as they travel to Charnock Richard (7.45pm).
It’s the first away trip of the season for Heys and Lee O’Brien and James Hampson will be looking for their side to continue the fine form shown against Bootle in the FA Cup on Saturday.
However, whilst, the Cup brings immediate headlines and glory, the long-term focus is on the weekly business of League points. After the poor opening day defeat to Burscough, a 3-0 home win over Pilkington last Tuesday saw Heys open their account and they will be looking to pick up more points tomorrow night. Even at this early stage of a long season points on the board are vital.
Charnock is never an easy place to visit. Down the years they have also suffered some crushing defeats there. However, they have won on their last two League visits, the most recent being a 3-2 success on the final day of last season.
The hosts have made an unbeaten start to the season, picking up four points from their opening two games. A 1-0 win at Cheadle Town on the opening day was followed by a 1-1 draw at Squires Gate last Tuesday. On Saturday however, they beat the latter 7-0 in the FA Cup, with all their goals coming in the second half. With legendary striker Carl Grimshaw having retired, Charnock have welcomed back Jordan Darr after a twelve-month absence, and he has found the net three times already.
