Kendal, come into the game, in the somewhat surprising position of having played four games this month! Whilst Heys, like many clubs have been frustrated by the weather and not played at all, the Cumbrians have been able to beat the conditions.
A 3-1 win on the Isle of Man was sandwiched by two 2-2 draws at Squires Gate and at home to Irlam. Those results capped a good run of League form, over nine games, which saw Kendal win five, draw three and lose just once, to lift them away from the lower reaches of the table. That run was spoilt somewhat by a heavy 5-0 defeat at AFC Liverpool last Wednesday night and they will be looking to get back amongst the points on Tuesday evening.
In contrast, Heys have played only two games in the last seven weeks. A 1-0 win at home to Lower Breck on Boxing Day was followed by a single goal loss at Litherland Remyca ten days ago. Given the prolonged spell out of action it is hard to talk with any authority about form, although Heys have slipped off the pace a little following their bright start to the season. However, injuries and suspensions have eased and they will come into the game looking to get back playing football and putting a run together that can see them reclaim, at the very least, the top five spot they have held for much of the season.
When the sides met at Kendal earlier in the season the hosts ran 2-1 winners with goals from Shaun Sailor and Steven Yawson cancelling out Dylan Fitzgerald’s first half penalty.
An extended preview is included in tomorrow night's match programme, Touchliner, £2 at the turnstiles
