Heys turn their attention to the Macron Cup tomorrow night when they host Cheadle Heath Nomads in a 2nd Round tie (7.45pm).
It will be the first meeting the between the clubs in any competition. The visitors come into the game in seventh position in the NW Counties First Division South and on the back of a 3-0 loss at fellow play off contenders Abbey Hulton on Saturday. Nonetheless, only goal difference keeps the Nomads out of the top five and they look well placed for a promotion challenge.
In the opening round Nomads won 2-1 at New Mills, who are managed by our former players the Baguley brothers.
Heys will welcome the break from their League troubles. Other than their Macron Cup success over Irlam, on penalties in the opening round, Heys haven’t tasted an outright victory since winning at Squires Gate in August. There has been promise in recent performances of that changing but results still have not materialised and recently appointed Ryan Hutchinson and his team have been busy recruiting again in the last few days as they look to turn things around. A cup victory would go some way to boosting hopes that things will change.
