We are delighted to announce that Jon Lyons is the new Chairman of Prestwich Heys.
Jon hardly needs any introduction; he is a Club legend who has played and managed at the Club. He was key figure on the pitch in the Trophy laden Adie Moran era from 2002 to 2008. Three years later he returned as Manager, inheriting a side that was ten points adrift in the relegation zone, with half the season gone, in the Manchester League Premier Division. Jon masterminded a miraculous escape from relegation before taking the club on a journey back to the NW Counties League.
On the way Heys secured a magnificent treble in 2015-16 winning the Manchester League Premier Division, Gilgryst Cup and Bolton Hospital Cup with a memorable win over Atherton Collieries at the Reebok Stadium.
When the club stepped up to the Counties Jon established Heys amongst the leading clubs in the 1st Division and in 2017/18 they won their first ever trophy at semi-professional level in winning the First Division Trophy with victory over Cammell Laird.
In December 2019, Jon stepped down as Manager to focus on his young family and his business but has remained a familiar face at the club. He now steps up take to the highest office of Chairman looking to bring the same success he brought to the club on the pitch and in the dugout.
We wish Jon all the best going forward, and we know this will be an appointment that will excite many including all those with an affinity for the Club.
We will hear more from Jon in the coming days, meanwhile why not come down to Adie Moran Park tomorrow for our game against Barnoldswick Town (3pm) and get behind him and the team as we begin a new era.
